Hello, my name is Jason Demay. I am a Boy Scout in Troop 36 in Oradell, New Jersey. I am currently a life scout in the troop and am working to attain the rank of Eagle. To become an Eagle Scout, I must complete a service project that benefits the community. For my service project, I would like to build a prayer garden at the main entrance of my church, The Church of Annunciation in Oradell. As part of building the prayer garden, we will remove some unwanted trees, remove the ivy that has grown into the windows and gutters of the building, till and level the garden, install a new bench, lay down weed cloth, which will be covered in stone, and mulch, an install new decorative plantings.
A lot of materials are required for the project to be completed and I was hoping to use the fundraising money to cover these costs. One thing I need to do is find a professional tree service that can come and cut down two trees that the church doesn’t want. I also need to purchase a nice bench for church members to sit on. A bird feeder and butterfly bush will also be purchased and added at the center of the garden. A rock layer would surround the bench and mulch would cover the rest of the garden. I also need to purchase perennial flowers to border the edge of the garden.
The total cost of the supplies and tree services may exceed $2500. Please help me attain my fundraising goals by purchasing coffee and teas from the Giving Bean. Thank you for your support.
