My name is Katherine Gilson and I am the Chair of this year’s Mariposa Elementary 3rd Grade Rancho Day which will take place on May 31, 2023. The 3rd graders have been studying local Brea history all year and this event is a culmination of their year of studies. Rancho Day allows them to experience many of the traditions that were common during the days of the Mexican Rancheros. They will be participating in lasso roping, clothes washing with a washboard, making butter from scratch, designing cattle brands, Spanish lessons, tortilla making, and more.
This event requires a village of volunteer parents and we are fortunate to have very involved families. Our 50 volunteers have been planning station activities and games, coordinating facility set up, securing lunch donors and Folklorico dance performers for the kids. They will be leading groups of children around to the stations that day, serving lunch, and setting up and cleaning up all the activities.
The morning of the event we have this large team of volunteers coming to set up the event and we would like to provide coffee and pastries for them when they arrive.
Would you consider donating 3 coffee travelers and/or some pastries for our volunteers to be picked up on Wednesday, May 31st at 7:30am? We will be recognizing our donors at the event and would love to partner with you.
